Mola di Bari

The Golden Bay of the Adriatic

An authentic seaside village on the Apulian coast, where tradition and sea meet

History and Tradition

Discover Mola di Bari

Mola di Bari, known as the "Golden Bay of the Adriatic", is a charming seaside village of about 26,000 inhabitants, located on the Adriatic coast of Puglia, 25 km south of Bari.

Ancient Origins

Archaeological finds testify to human settlements since the Neolithic period. Discoveries of coins and an ancient coat of arms with an owl (symbol of Athens) suggest a possible Greek foundation.

Medieval Foundation

The city was refounded in 1277 by Charles I of Anjou, who made it an important port during the Crusades. The imposing Angevin Castle dates back to this period.

Today Mola preserves intact the charm of an authentic fishing village. Its fishing port is among the most important in Puglia, with over 100 boats and 1200 fishermen who return daily with fresh catch. Walking through the alleys of the historic center, you can still see fishermen repairing their nets, a dive into maritime tradition.
